The Research Institute of Turkology and Altaic Studies was established in October 2022 by the Decision of the Academic Council of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Mission of the Research Institute of Turkology and Altaistics is conducting fundamental and applied scientific research on historical, cultural, linguistic and spiritual heritage of Turkic peoples, as well as the integration of science and innovative approaches, analysis of international experience in development of scientific knowledge in the field of linguistics, literature, culture, history, archeology, ethnography of Turkic peoples to identify common values of related languages and cultures and the place of Turkic ethno-linguistic landscape in the world space.

Main tasks of the Research Institute of Turkology and Altaistics:

-       carrying out fundamental and applied research in Turkology and Altaistics collaborating with domestic and foreign scientists;

-       development of the theory and methodology of modern Turkology and Altaistics;

-       publication of scientific works in Kazakh and other languages;

-       creation of a researches database on Turkology and Altaistics and electronic resources of personalities of scientists-Turkologists;

-       holding international forums to test scientific research results on the issues of ethno-linguistic interaction and socio-cultural development of the Turkic peoples in diachrony and synchrony.
