Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev met with President of Xi'an Jiaotong University Wang Shuguo during a working trip to China.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Xi'an Jiaotong University signed a memorandum of cooperation in 2016. Today the parties discussed ways to expand cooperation within the framework of the memorandum, intensify work on the exchange of students and teaching staff, and conduct joint work in the scientific field.

Xi'an Jiaotong University is a multidisciplinary research university that implements research and educational programs in nine areas such as: natural sciences, engineering, medicine, economics, management, humanities, law, philosophy, pedagogy and art. According to ShanghaiRanking, the university is ranked 10^th in 2022. Today, more than 51 thousand students study at the educational institution. In addition, the university has 29 institutes, 9 schools for bachelor’s degree and 3 auxiliary educational hospitals. Xi'an Jiaotong University cooperates with more than 300 universities and research institutes. The educational institution initiated the interuniversity alliance "The Great Silk Road" and created an international platform for educational cooperation and relations for more than 160 universities in 37 countries and regions. KazNU named after al-Farabi is a member of this alliance.

In turn, Zhanseit Tuimebayev thanked the president of the university, told about the achievements of KazNU and shared plans for the future. "In the future it is planned to increase the number of foreign students at KazNU. Our university successfully continues its scientific and educational activities. Scientists contribute to the development of local science. KazNU has implemented more than 100 innovative projects. Today, work is underway to promote and commercialize them," the rector stressed.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to systematically implement these initiatives. After the meeting, the rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev visited the museum of Xi'an Jiaotong University and got acquainted with the infrastructure of the university.
