Executive Officer of the University of Tsukuba, Professor Ohneda Osamu visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. A special campus tour for the delegation was organized.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the University of Tsukuba have long-standing partnership. Since the signing of the agreement between the universities, a number of projects aimed at the development of research and educational activities have been jointly implemented. Students, and employees of KazNU undergo scientific internships at Japanese universities under the academic mobility program, while Japanese students study at KazNU as well.

During the campus tour, Professor Ohneda Osamu got acquainted with the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology. Dean of the Faculty Bolathan Zayadan conducted a tour of the Research Institute of Biology and Biotechnology and laboratories.

Next, the delegation visited the Keremet Data Center. The guests got acquainted with the activities of the resource center, which provides students with educational, medical, legal, financial, cultural and entertainment services on the principle of the single- window.

The guests also visited the Research Center of Medicinal Plants, where small-range production of innovative products based on plant raw materials has been established. The delegation was presented with the technological cycles of the production of several types of medical herbal supplements growing on the territory of Kazakhstan. Then, a cluster of engineering and high-tech technologies, pilot production of energy-saving lamps, nano-materials, a physics software package was also shown.

The campus tour ended at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology. Dean A. K. Galeeva conducted a tour of the laboratories of extraction and sorption processes and analysis of metals and minerals.
