The delegation of the Ural Federal University (UrFU) headed by the Vice-Rector for International Relations Sergey Tushin visited the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. At the meeting with representatives of the university management, the directions and prospects of mutually beneficial cooperation of universities were discussed.

The guests of honor met with representatives of the leadership of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, headed by Board member – Vice-Rector for Operations Assel Uvalieva.

In her welcoming speech, the Vice-Rector spoke about the achievements of the university, which was awarded the status of a research university last year: “KazNU is ranked 150^th in QS WUR. This status opens up wide opportunities for international cooperation. Today, KazNU has experience in scientific and educational cooperation with Russian universities in various fields, 195 cooperation agreements have been signed with 140 universities of the Russian Federation. Our university implements master's double-degree programs together with a number of higher education institutes of Russia. On September 12, 2022 The Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a solemn ceremony dedicated to the opening of the MEPhI branch with the participation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek. On behalf of our management, we express our readiness to develop relations with your university and will be glad to hear suggestions on areas of cooperation”.

In turn, Vice–Rector for International Relations Sergey Tushin thanked the leadership of KazNU for the warm welcome and the opportunity to meet, he told about Ural Federal University, which is one of the leading universities in Russia with more than a century-old history. UrFU applies the best educational practices in its activities, creates new internationally oriented programs.

"Our visit today is a serious groundwork for cooperation in many areas. And we hope for a fruitful partnership, including the development and implementation of joint educational programs, including double-degree, offline, online exchange conferences, as well as joint scientific research on topical areas of science and innovation development" Sergey Tushin stated.
